Recycled Cotton Throws

Recycled cotton is made by shredding offcuts and spinning the fibre again. It genuinely diverts waste and it genuinely uses far less water than growing new cotton, and for a lot of buyers that is the whole reason to choose it.

Shredding shortens the fibre. A shorter staple spins into a slightly weaker, slightly hairier yarn, which is why recycled cotton is usually blended with some virgin or recycled polyester to hold it together. We state the blend on the quote rather than calling it recycled cotton and stopping there.

It also arrives with the colour of what it was made from, so recycled ranges lean towards heathered greys, ecru and muted tones and cannot hit a bright saturated brand colour without re-dyeing, which undoes part of the point. We will tell you when your brand colour is the thing making the eco claim expensive.
